The University of Tokyo (Todai) is launching several study programs in the Metaverse later this year. The aim of the project is to give more people the skills to handle digital transformation and advanced technologies.

According to the local news outlet The Asahi Shimbun, these courses will be directed at high school students as well as adults in the workplace. Metaverse study programs will be carried out by Todai’s faculty of engineering and field-related graduate schools. After completing the courses, students will receive certificates.

In educational programs directed at high schools, junior students will be introduced to an overview of the platform’s environment and learn about science, engineering, and other related fields to create roadmaps for finding their future jobs.

Furthermore, university students and people in the workforce will have the opportunity to focus on several online courses, such as artificial intelligence(AI), next-gen communication tech, and entrepreneurial education.

No plans for crypto and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have been revealed in the news outlet, but as it is associated with the Metaverse and a number of popular metaverse brands, chances are that blockchain-related projects might get developed on the platform in the future.
