Traditionally, Forbes magazine is bringing its annual rankings of the most influential and the wealthiest. Unsurprisingly, the list of the richest people in the world includes those who own billions worth of digital assets. The number of these people grew 60% from last year.
In their article on the richest cryptocurrency owners, they state that the number of crypto billionaires rose from last year’s eleven to nineteen. There are seven more people in the world who became billionaires thanks to digital assets.
The position of the richest crypto billionaire has been occupied by Binance CEO and founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao since last year. His fortune is currently estimated at $65 billion. In the overall ranking of the wealthiest people in the world, he occupies 19th place.
This year’s second place goes to FTX founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried with $24 billion and the third place belongs to Coinbase CEO and founder Brian Armstrong with $6.6 billion.
Some of the newcomers to this list consist of FTX co-founder and chief technology officer Gary Wang with $5.6 billion worth of crypto and Nikil Viswanathan and Joseph Lau, co-founders of Alchemy, with $2.4 billion net worth each.
Naturally, the list is overall dominated mostly by founders of various companies that have to do with cryptocurrencies as such, which is not surprising. Also, the list of crypto-rich excludes those who also own other traditional assets.
