The Bank of Ghana is still considering its own digital currency

Based on information provided by ghanaweb, the Bank of Ghana is constantly considering its own digital currency.

Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari – First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana explains that the bank is still interested in the development of the digital currency in terms of supporting the economy and the cash agenda.

Opoku also talks about how the bank is ready to support innovation in the market, and also wants to test the concepts of digital currency for the central bank.

The topic of digital currency comes mainly after the bank set up its first office for FinTech and Innovation a few weeks ago. Banka of Ghana from now on oversees activities in financial technology across the country and supports them.
