Tether treasury wallet  was hacked, but hackers were left without anything

 On the 19th of Nov. 2017 an anonymous group of hackers stole around $31M worth of tokens from Tether treasury wallet and sent them to an unauthorized Bitcoin address. The attacker’s address is “16tg2RJuEPtZooy18Wxn2me2RhUdC94N7r” and the Tether team recommended to not accept USDT tokens from this address which has been flagged and will not be redeemable for USD.

Tether is a cryptocurrency token of which the price is pegged to the US dollar 1-to-1. Backed by the Bitcoin blockchain through Omni layer protocol, Tether was founded in November 2015 and is incorporated in Hong Kong. Read more
