Metaverse is a new form of information technology integration and innovation, which drives the growth of the internet toward Web3. Beijing follows Shanghai city, which has previously revealed a five-year development plan for the metaverse industry.
The Beijing government announced a two-year plan for metaverse development and innovation. The development program will integrate technical approaches, such as 3D visualization and Geographical Information System (GIS), and develop a visual urban space digital platform. In addition, it will ensure the layout of the digital native intelligent infrastructure.
“In order to systematically promote the development of Metaverse-related industries in the sub-center of the city, create an urban technological innovation highland with distinctive digital characteristics, and help Beijing build a benchmark city for the digital economy, this action plan is specially formulated.” as written in the government's announcement.
Moreover, the Beijing government is planning to create more than 100 companies that grasp core metaverse technologies, and to promote the plan, they will utilize the use of metaverse in education and tourism.
“Promote digital education scenarios, support in-depth cooperation between Metaverse-related technology companies and educational institutions, expand intelligent and interactive online education models, and develop industry-wide digital teaching platforms.” stands in the government's announcement.
